1974-1976

*Miles Amherst*	13th March The town band was reformed by popular request at a meeting called by the mayor of the borough, Councillor F.J.O Martin, J.P. and held at the Watson Hall at 7pm on Wednesday 13th March 1974. The new band was supported by the Borough Council with a generous promise of £2500 for the purchase of instruments. Mr Miles Amherst was elected Chairman of Band Committee and its first bandmaster.
	November First public appearance of the new Town Band at the cross war memorial. The Last Post was sounded by Mr Sid Walkley. Conductor: Mr Miles Amherst.
	December Town Band played at the Mayors Christmas tree carols. 19th December Town Band gave it's first public concert in the Town Hall. 	January - Formation of the Town Band Supporters Club. Chairman - Councillor Cliff Burd Town Mayor. 15th February - Supporters hold first coffee morning and jumble sale.
	26th March - Supporters club present £120 cheque to Band.
	7th April - Tewkesbury Licensed Victuallers' Association present £100 cheque to Band.
	April - First Annual General Meeting sadly sees Miles Amherst resign as the Band's Musical Director due to increasing commitments at Tewkesbury Abbey School. The annual subscription is raised to £10 for adult members. Ken Booth takes on the role of Musical Director for the Band.
	17th May - Town Band played at Tewkesbury School Fete.
	May - The Tewkesbury Guild present the Band with a cheque for £250.
	21st June - Town Band played at Detford Village Fete. June - Band played at sound test in Roses Theatre. 28th June - Band played for supporters at the Town Hall in the morning. Band played at Defford Fete in the afternoon.
	12th July - Band played in Tewkesbury Town Carnival.
	19th July - Band played at Apperley Fete.
	16th August - Band played at Puckrup Hall Fete. 6th September - Band played at Tewkesbury Hospital Fete. October - Roses Theatre opened by HRH Princess Ann. 9th November - Band played at Town remembrance service at the Cross.
	10th December - Band played carols at Berkley Arms Old Aged Pensioners Christmas Party. 17th December - Band played carols for town mayor at Christmas tree. 20th December - Town Band played carols in the town and at both hospitals. 23rd December - Band gave Christmas concert at the Watson Hall.

	29th May - Band played at Cirencester Exhibition "Focus 76". 31st May - Band played at Tewkesbury Abbey Fete.
	12th June - Town Band played at Defford Village Fete.
	26th June - Town Band played at Band Strawberry Fair.
	3rd July - Band played at the opening of Clee House (Royal British Legion).
	10th July - Band played at the Tewkesbury Town Carnival BBQ.
	18th July - Junior Band played at the Annual Animal Blessing Service at Tewkesbury Abbey.
	21st August - Band played at Puckrup Hall Garden Fete. 29th August - Band played at Twyning Horse Show.
	6th September - Band played at British Legion Parade at Sedgeberrow.
	11th September - Band played at Tewkesbury Hospital Fete. 14th November - Band played at Town remembrance service at the Cross. 27th November - Band played at Xmas Fair at Tewkesbury Town Hall.

	19th December - Band played carols at Puckrup Hall Old Peoples Home. 22nd December - Band played at the Town Mayor's Carol Service at the Christmas Tree, and after at Tewkesbury Squash Club.
	NB: It was at the end of 1976 that the Band Chairman launched the Band Uniform Fund.
