2007 - Now
Training Band 2004
<<< Jenny turned up to Band practise in her pyjamas! [Band Camp 2008]
Musical Background: Jenny started playing Cornet at Primary School and briefly at Senior School but then stopped until she was in her late 30's. Jenny says she got fed up with spending hours at the bandroom waiting for her children Will and Hannah (who were learning) so decided to have lessons (with Helen W) on Tenor Horn.
Which Bands / Ensembles do you (have you) played with on a regular basis? Tewkesbury Training and Senior Bands
What has been your most outstanding banding experience to date? 1. Being there as a supporter when the band won at Butlins in 2005. 2. Playing in my first contest a couple of years later. 3. Rehersaing in a wood in my pyjamas whilst on Band Camp! see photo <<< Sunday morning rehearsal? Who's idea was that?!!
What is the best advice you have received? When setting off for the Band AGM 3 years ago Paul (my husband) said "Don't get talked into anything" - I never was good at taking advice!!
What are your favourite pieces of music that you have played? Lydian Pictures (first test piece I had to play)
What are your favourite pieces of music to listen to (brass band)? Valdres March, Benedictus, Bandology, Paul Lovett Cooper's music.
What are your favourite pieces of music to listen to (any genre)? Anything by Simply Red
Who is your favourite performer and why? Nigel Morgan, MD of Tewkesbury Town Band...because I think if I say nice things about him he'll go easy on me in practise! (she clearly doesn't know him very well!!).
What are your musical ambitions? To be able to look at a piece of music for the first time and not feel the need to run!
