Festive Sounds at Christmas
Lights Switch On!
Our Training Band’s second Christmas performance
was playing carols outside the Town Hall at the switching on of the
Christmas Lights in Tewkesbury on Sunday 30th November 2008. The Band
played a selection of carols and Christmas tunes to entertain the crowds
as they gathered throughout the afternoon to see Father Christmas switch
the lights on. Many people commented on how well the Band was playing
and how it really got them in the Christmas mood! |
Christmas Cheer at Alderman Knight
School
Our Training Band opened their Christmas performances by
once again playing at the Alderman Knight School Christmas Cheer evening on
Thursday 27th November 2008. People packed the school to look at all the
wonderful craft stalls and have a go on the various tombolas and raffles. The
Training Band added an extra festive feel by playing many carols and Christmas
tunes to help encourage the Christmas spirit!

Beginning to Look Like Christmas!!
Christmas carol playing has started
early this year, a week after we were marching down Tewkesbury High Street to
mark Remembrance Day we could be found outside the Community Centre in Bishop's
Cleeve entertaining the crowd that had gathered to watch Dame Doitall from the
Tewkesbury Roses Theatre pantomime and Father Christmas turn on the village's
Christmas lights. The weather obliged by being cold and wintery! We played a
selection of carols and popular Christmas songs to warm the crowd whilst they
were sampling the delights of the Christmas fair.

Remembrance Sunday - 9 November
The Band turned out in force once again
to lead the Parade through Tewkesbury to the Abbey for the Remembrance Day
service. Following the Abbey service, the Band then led the parade back up to
the cross where the war memorial is for the Last Post and silence to remember
the fallen ones followed by Reveille, the laying of wreaths and the hymn Our God
our help in ages past. The Band then headed the parade back towards the Abbey to
the crescent to allow the whole parade to re-align before the march past the
Town Hall back to where we started at the Roses Theatre.

Mop Fair
The Band and many of its
Training Band members led the evening procession of the Mayor and other
dignitaries for the opening of the annual Mop Fair in Tewkesbury on
Thursday 9th October. The Band led the parade from Gander Lane to the fair
at The Cross playing the march 'New Recruit' before enjoying an evening
at the fair!
