Robin Purser
Solo Cornet

Robin has returned to the Band after a few years. Robin took a break to concentrate on his studies at Tewkesbury School and then he went on to read Music at Cardiff University. Having gained a 2.1 in the summer of 2005, Robin decided to stay in Cardiff for another year to work, but he returned to Tewkesbury to play with the band on most weekends. We are pleased that Robin has now moved back to Tewkesbury and he has once again become a valuable member of of our band.

September 2010 : Auf Wiedersehen Robin!
Sadly the band said farewell to one of our long serving and most popular Cornet players, Robin Purser, at the end of September. Robin has moved to Newcastle, where he has started a new job as Programme Development Manager at The Sage in Gateshead. Robin began playing the Cornet under the instruction of Ron Caddock and continued to progress, ultimately completing a Music degree at Cardiff University in 2005.

As a mere school boy Robin joined the Band back in 1995 aged 12 and played with the band for five years. On completing his degree Robin stayed in Cardiff to work for another year. After playing with the band at our 30th Anniversary Concert along with other past players, he then travelled to Tewkesbury most weekends to play with the Band.

Robin re-joined the band in 2005 when he moved back to Tewkesbury, working with Cheltenham Festivals. Since then he has been a valued and committed member of the band and although we will miss him we wish him all the best in Newcastle. One good thing is that Robinís family still live in Tewkesbury. Hopefully Robin will regularly return to the Band when he comes home for his essential (and famous) Mum's Sunday roast dinners!
