Christmas
Concert is a sell out! It's only mid-October and already all the tickets for our Christmas Concert at the Roses Theatre have been sold! Over recent years, the concert has continued to gain in popularity and has become a sell out concert annually, last year all tickets being sold by the end of November. Due to the high standard of our playing and all the festive entertainment, this is now a not to be missed concert! |

It's that time of year again - the start of
our contest season. We are now hard at work practising for the Gloucestershire
Brass Band Association Contest on Sunday 24th November 2002. The contest
consists of two parts: a march contest and an own-choice test-piece contest.
What are we playing? Well that's for us to know and you to find out so you
better come and listen at the contest! (See Diary
page for further details of the contest). |

To complement the serious rehearsals on the test-piece, the band is also starting to prepare for Christmas! All the old favourites are coming out as well as some great new pieces to get everyone in the festive mood! Don't forget that our Christmas Concert is on Sunday 15th December at the Roses Theatre. This concert is a sell out year on year so our advice is to get down to the Roses box office now to ensure your seat at the Christmas celebration of the year! |

personnel changes and in order to strengthen areas of the band for the

| Welcome
back Neil
We are pleased to
announce the return of Neil Crowe to the band after many years
away playing with higher section bands in the County. Neil likes to
challenge his embouchure to the extreme by playing either Bb Bass or
Soprano!!! He has returned to Tewkesbury to play soprano, a position
that he held with the band for a number of years in the early 1990's
before moving to Bb bass on his travels. Welcome back. |

| Cheerio
Dan and Goodbye Sue!
This month we sadly bid farewell to two band members: |
|
| Dan Slater, who has been playing bass trombone with us since the beginning of the year whilst he was undertaking his sandwich year placement at RAF Innsworth, has returned to Sunderland University to complete his degree. During his brief spell with Tewkesbury Dan proved himself to be an excellent bass trombonist with a great personality. Dan will be greatly missed by the band. We wish him well in his final year at university and hope to see him again soon. |
|
| Sue Sollis, who joined the band in January on cornet has left to join Stourport Band. Sue provided support to the cornet section in various roles (front row, repiano, 2nd cornet) throughout the year. She will be remembered for her forgetfulness and her laughing on our tour! We wish her well for the future. |

Just a note from the band to say hi and we're back. A great time was had by all, much beer drank and food consumed...the concerts were great too! Check back in a few days for a full report! |
